Book Review II
The other book I want to suggest is one the kids can read. Several of my 8th graders have chosen to read this book and have asked for the sequel. It is called "Lawn Boy". It is about this boy who begins to mow yards and has his stock broker neighbor invest his money for him in the stock market. It is an excellent way to introduce or reinforce teaching economics. Every student of mine who has read it has liked it!
BOOK REVIEW
I read a great book that will get you in the mood for the holidays. It is an adult book so I wouldn't recomend it to kiddos. It is called "The Same Kind of Different as Me". It is a true story about a very wealthy art dealer and a modern day slave and the Christian woman who brought them together. It is a great read!

Tired
It has been a while since I have posted. I have been so very busy lately. I am ready for the weekend! I realized yesterday that I need a refresher course on grammar. It has been so long since I have had a grammar lesson. I guess I will be paying a visit to the bookstore sometime soon and getting a book on it. Things are going well in my world, I only have one class that is concerning me....behavior wise.....I wonder if some of them have been taught the meaning to respect their elders......follow instructions, etc.... Anyway, I am looking forward to a great new day. I am giving a summative assessment tomorrow so we will see how good my teaching was...":)

Unsure
When I created this blog I did so because it was a requirement for this class. However, since I have been using it I find myself feeling more and more addicted to it. I feel better after I post a blog. It almost feels like I released any tension from my day. It may sound silly, but I find it somewhat therapeutic.
Trying/Rewarding
One of the most beautiful things about education is that you can have a totally rotten day and the next day have a totally different experience. You can always start over on a brand new day. Wednesday was such a difficult day, but today was great. We had open house and I met a lot of parents and truly felt proud to be a teacher. It felt like an honor. Today was a good day and I am thankful.

Exhausted
I filmed my video today for Internship I and I am absolutely exhausted. The lesson went really well and the kids were just perfect. As I watched the video, I was impressed with the classroom management, but it seemed a little boring. I hope it isn't that boring in reality. I am beginning to realize I am have trouble with "wait time". I know it is vital for my kids to have, but it is something I really have to work on. I forget sometimes they are in 8th grade. I think I am extra tired because I was so worried about being "on" for the camera. 7th period is always a challenge. Today, they were extra loud and rowdy and that made me feel worse at the end of the day. I guess I know I have done my job if I feel like I have been beat with a leather boot at the end of the day.....since I am a first year teacher. :-) The work does not stop however, I must now continue to read and prepare for Saturday. Hopefully after a hot bath and some tea, I will be re-charged.
